Aileen Doyle

Your Counsellor at Connected Counselling Cardiff

Hi, I have been passionate about counselling for many years. I have worked in an NHS setting providing counselling services in Cardiff to people from all walks of life helping them with a large variety of issues they have been facing. It always amazes me how much talking helps people get perspective in their lives and allows them the space to make decisions about the things that effect them. I am used to dealing with issues ranging from extreme crisis situations to helping people who just feel a bit stuck in their lives. I have always been a good listener so found these skills were well suited to being a counsellor.

I am from overseas originally but came to Wales as a teenager and have lived most of my life in Cardiff (and raised my children here). My path to counselling started after my psychology degree after which I gained my counselling qualifications. I have experience of working with children for a local charity as a schools counsellor in Cardiff. My NHS and private work mostly sees me working with adults although given my extensive experience with young people I still work with those who need my help.

Please read some of my testimonials from past clients and give me a call for a chat about how counselling can help you. You can then decide if you’d like to come in. I set up Connected Counselling Cardiff to help people from Cardiff and the surrounding area, we are in central Cardiff (couple of minutes drive outside of the city centre/12mins walk) and have private off street parking, a rarity in central Cardiff!

My Approach

I would describe my approach as Person Centred and Relational with an underpinning of Humanistic and Psychodynamic theoretical approaches. I realise this won’t mean a lot to many people but in layman terms this means that I work with you in a non-judgemental and empathic manner. It also means that in our therapeutic relationship together we look to explore your personal growth and progress by looking at you as a whole person and exploring your inner feelings whilst also being aware of the influences of your early life. When needed, I also use some aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is a more focused way to change thoughts, feelings and behaviour.
